The blog begins. My beginnings as a SL jewelry designer.

As I progress in my career as a jewelry designer on SL, it occurred to me that chronicling my progress and my designs would be a good thing. So this is the catch-up/history blog entry. How I got here.

It all started with Outy's Fire scripts. I wanted to conquer fire. So I got the scripts and started to play. Naturally I wanted to see how far I could push his scripts, so played with just how small I could go and still see fire. What I was left with was a bead, a small, pulsing, flickering flame. I was enchanted. Flame bead jewelry was born.

I enjoyed this play for a while, coming up with some really fun products. With a few of the SL updates, though, my scripts were trashed. I spent a month updating the scripts, and designing a static version of all jewelry. Thankfully, the scripts have stabilized, but I also decided relying on scripts for my living was a bit tenuous.

Next was learning to master nano prims. Some of the jewelry designers on SL are phenomenal. Awe-inspiring even. LoLo, Lassitude and Ennui, Miriel, and Essentia are a few of the people I look up to, and really admire. I spent around a month just looking at some of these magnificent pieces, wrestling with prims, making chains, and trying to figure out where to go from there.

My friend, Phorkyad Acropolis, was publishing a book of SL poetry called The Absence of Shadows. It was being published both in SL and RL, and he asked me to make something for the raffle. This was the inspiration for my Bibliophile series, and opened the floodgates. Since that moment, ideas are flooding in and I am having just way too much fun.

Currently, almost everything is based on something that amuses me. I am creating miniature books, billiard jewelry, plaid bananas (sorry, I just had to), and more. It is all highly detailed and very precise, like the work I do in RL. I will be expanding the line as I go, and expect to develop a number of classic items as well. As I come up with new ideas, I will post them here. If you are a resident of SL, feel free to make requests as well.
