Next week is the Jewelry Fair. I had great desires and designs in my head for the show, but a new RL job has resulted in relocating, and having trouble getting a space set up where I can work. Disappointing, but I will punt. I am (hopefully) getting permissions to release some alternate versions of some commission work, and I have a few partially finished pieces lying about. I will have a simple, minimal presence, but I will show.
Note to self: Do not move in the early Fall next year.

Finally! The Avilia Snake necklace!
I am VERY happy to get to make this post. I put my heart and soul into this piece. It is a very detailed, very lovingly constructed set based on the classic vintage snake necklace designed by Margo de Taxco. All textures are hand-painted, and every prim is hand-placed to match the look, feel, and exceptional drape of the original. I actually taught myself to make sculpties so I could make the head!

I have an enlarged version at my shop just so you can see the detail. This Mama is very proud!

It is a piece I made under contract, but part of our contract was that I could sell it for 50% commission at my place, on SL, and on OnRez. The client is an authorized seller of this necklace in RL, and wished to have an SL version to share as well.

Next...
I have been continuing my slow wander through my basics series. RL is eating a lot of time right now. I am glad to keep moving on this stuff, and it will soon be done!
This week I present the Studded Basics Hoops set. A small and mid-sized studded hoop, in even a few more metal gem combinations!

I was so tempted to do a large size hoop as well, but I just could not make myself put almost 200 prims per hoop for an affect so subtle. Ya, call me a wimp. Perhaps I will correct that oversight later.
I have 2 more items in this series, and then on to more fun!
Enjoy! Angelina

This Week Lip Rings
Ya, I admit this is getting boring. I am glad to be getting this done though. I have felt it is pretty essential to have a nice set of basics to fill out a product line, and once I found out how to make this itty bitty prim, well, I was entranced.

I am looking for a different way to vend these items though. 27 noses, ears, or lips on a wall is a bit daunting. A few jewelers use some nice scripts that walk you through the selection. I will have to investigate that.
Next item up? 2 sizes of earrings. Until then? Enjoy.

New Studded Basics set: Belly Rings!
Hello to you all!
This week is the second in which is going to be a series of Studded Basics: the belly ring!

The stones and metals are the same as last week. I am completely happy to custom stones and metals as well. I had to stop somewhere. ;) I have put two of them out for free this week as well. You will just have to find them.
I was hoping to get a bit more done this week, but I hurt a tooth, and it has seriously limited my SL time. Oh well.
See you next week!

The nose knows
I did it! I was messing around with prims (ok, that is my job I guess) and I came up with a microscopic little disk. I believe it is the smallest possible circular prim one can make. Needless to say, I was jazzed!
AND, I had to use it on something. Perhaps this level of detail on a nose ring is a bit, um, well, mad. I really like it though, and I hope you do too. I played with this in 6 metals, and a ton of stones. They will be in my store at $50 each, and there will be a fat pack!

I also did a few more versions of Cascade in Gold, Silver, Copper, and Oxidized. They will be up as well.

I hope you enjoy them! Until next time, Angelina.

A few items for Relay for Life
One of my friends runs one of the RFL teams, the Relay Racers. She was wondering if I could come up with something for the Relay. Well, the new necklace, Cascade, seemed ideally suited for the job. I have come up with 3 versions that will be exclusive to RFL. Once it is gone they are gone.
Typically for me, though two of the colors are quite nice and refined, I had to go a little overboard on the final version. I like them. I hope you will as well. Please stop by Satang, or go to the Relay Racer's headquarters, to donate and get your version!

A new set...Cascade
You know how inspiration hits? Ok, it is different for every person, but speaking for myself, I can wrestle and wrestle, and then I will see just the right inspiration somewhere, and click, it all comes together. Whether it is a photo, someone else's work that sets me down a fresh path, or whatever, it just happens.
That is what happened with this new design, Cascade. I just saw one image, and then poof, there it was!

I love my new background too! OK, not significant to you maybe, but it is so hard to find something that works for both black and white. There will be a few variations coming...I am enchanted by the idea of incorporating black pearls...

Quiet on the Surface
I am externally quiet this week. I purchased the SLoft in-world sculpty editor, and am having a blast. It is a very intuitive system, and my results have been good. From what I hear, the Sculpt Studio is also very good, but I was able to pretty much hit the ground running after watching the SLoft videos, and most of the time I can work on my land--I am well within my prim limits. I am starting to do some custom sculpty work for people, which is fun too.

Filling in the corners
I have been busy elsewhere, again, sigh. I have managed to do a little bit of "filling in the corners", or adding a few missing items to my existing lines. More is in the works, I promise!
The first item is another metal for Bibliophile. I was requested by someone fond of Steampunk to make a copper version. So I did, with a distressed leather journal as the book. I have these up in my store, under the rest of the Bibliophile line. Both a men's and woman's version is available.

Another tiny addition is a 8-ball earring to go with the 8-ball necklace. I should have that in the store by tomorrow.

Other things: 1) I have begun to keep just 2 things in my Lucky chair and I put it on 10 minutes. I will be changing it weekly. More fun, different items, all that good stuff! :) 2) I have expanded my store. Now, there is nothing in the expansion yet. I plan on adding a line of simple piercings, earrings, and other things, and hopefully fill that room up. with, as I have heard others say, "prim-y goodness". The ideas have already flooded my brain, and are clamoring for escape. Wish me luck!

Derivative Things
I loved doing the Ethereal set, but there were a few things that made me want to go a bit further with it. One: Ethereal was a commission, and I was not sure I would have rights to sell it. Two: not every one wants to wear a tiara, or even be quite that fancy all of the time.
So, I created a version I call Simply Ethereal.

I am very happy with this simplified version of the main motif. I did go a bit whack with this though. I ended up making 15 different versions? Ya, a bit whack. It just worked so well with so many different gems. The most out there is the Black, Peridot version, but it just turned out so nice.

What can happen with commissions
I have been a bad blogger. I have also had a topsy turvy life, and been very busy. No excuse.
One thing I have been doing though is commissions. That has left me with less time to work on my own designs which is regrettable. It has however been stretching me as a builder. I have taken on a few definite challenges.
Two of my clients have entered sales agreements with me, which means I can feature the items I made for them at my store. Very exciting, because one of the pieces I made for a client is one of the prettiest things I have ever done. And that is the Ethereal set.

Here's another photo. I have to admit I wore it around for a week. And I am generally not a tiara kind of person. Worked fine with my black leathers though.

I am now in process with another set of commission pieces. i can't show pics yet, and it is killing me. But I will the minute I can. I can say that I am recreating in SL some fine sterling jewelry from RL, lovely, challenging, and classic stuff. In the process I have learned to make sculpties, which is even better. I will try to squeak out some stuff for my line in the interim, but this stuff is way worth waiting for.
